It was a Sunday so all the shops were closed. We had a quick stop to see the lion sculpture. It took us a little over an hour to get to Lucerne. We left 10 minutes later since we had to wait for a couple of visitors. We started off from Sihlquai Coach Parking, which is just across the Zurich Main Train station. But of course, if somebody likes to have a tour tailored to his own needs and desires, they are free to book a private tour at a significantly higher cost. To make the tour a 9-hour trip is definitely not feasible considering all the different aspects. Many of our guest do like to take the opportunity for shopping but no one is obliged to visit the shop and therefore free to explore the town, take pictures, have a coffee or do what ever he feels during the good half hour. Kirchhofer is the watch shop with the wides offers of Swiss watches and jewellery in the country. Yes, there is a shopping opportunity but definitely not the reason for the stop. It’s a possibility to get something to eat and stretch the legs. As for Interlaken this is a very famous spot, and may guests like to see the place and capture a picture from the iconic vistas to the Jungfrau and the paragliders. When we have the direct service in high season, we usually do a toilet break on route at the Brünig Pass.
The stop in Lucerne is after the first hour drive and we consider it a good option also for a toilet break. In high season we operate often a direct coach from Zürich and have a second one picking up guests in Lucerne, but this depends always on the number of guests booked from each destination. The pick-up for Lucerne guest takes 5 to 10 minutes as Lucerne is on the way to Interlaken. We understand that the tour duration is long. All in all, the 12 hour 15 minute tour should be a 9 hour day, maximum.ĭear George Thank you for your valuable feedback. All the logistics aside, Jungfraujoch was tremendous. Guide was very good, but tough to talk to 56 people and expect all to hear you. Tour operator should invest in small van for small groups in other cities and figure out how to merge the groups. The return was also the same itinerary with stop in Interlaken and stop in Lucerne.
From Zurich to a stop in Lucerne (to pick up passengers), then to a stop in Interlaken (to let passenger off no time to tour) and finally we got to the first train to take us to Jungfraujoch. Best of Switzerland scheduled this trip to maximize their profits and not maximize the customers experience. Attration - 5 stars tour 1 star - Too log a trip.
